What is an online class?

What is an online Class?

It is a process of learning via internet by

(i)                   Two way talk using a headset,

(ii)                 Screen sharing (what I write on my screen is seen on your screen) as you

have seen in my Video Tutorials ( or Search YouTube - 'rajwin656' .

(iii)                Face to face interaction by a web cam.

(iv)               Without face to face interaction as in (i) and (ii).

(v)                 Tests conducted online.

What are Online Class requirements?

Student’s Requirements:

You don’t have to be a computer expert by any means, but you should have a working knowledge of computers and internet or possibly even certain programs.

Students must have access to an Internet, including e-mail and Web access via a browser which is Java enabled. Basic computer literacy is essential. You will interact with your instructor by use of a web browser from your home, office or anywhere else you can connect to the internet.

When you’re attending an online class, using e-mail is the most common method of communicating with the instructor. Sometimes it may be necessary to speak on phone. It may take two or three classes to get adjusted to an online class.

An additional advantage for my students in Mumbai is that even when you are not in town you can study online with or without your books.

Computer Requirements:

Your computer should be running Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7 to comply with the program. Mac users should have their computers running on at least the Mac OSX. To boost efficiency, the computer should also have at least half of the space on the entire hard drive free. This will reduce load times and lags.

Other accessories:

Headset is better then a Laptop Mic, as it reduces echoing & interference. Webcam (optional). Printer and/or scanner are not an absolute necessity, but handy, as some materials sent via e-mail, if printed, will be convenient for students when they do their home assignments. A scanner may be useful when a student has a difficulty from a book or school worksheet which can be viewed by the Instructor.

Internet Requirements:
Your computer should be hooked up to a fast Internet connection, such as Broadband or DSL or a 3G. Dial-up connections will be too slow to handle the demands of an online class. Minimum Internet speed required is 512 kbps.

Softwares:
You may be required to download a few additional things before you can begin learning. Antivirus is possibly the most important of these downloads to ensure that your computer and documents are safe. Students should also download a media player that will allow them to view video materials and an unzipping program that will let them unpack zipped files. Other additional program details and online support can be obtained when you enroll for online internet class.

Other Requirements:

Do have a quiet place in your home where you can access your classes and study. All online students will need to cut themselves off from distractions such as TV, cell phones or non-school-related Web surfing when they are accessing their classes from home. Parents may need to get a sitter to watch children while they study for online class, write online tests or complete assignments.

Say no to TV, social networking and non-school-related Web surfing. Nothing is more time wasting as an online student than trying to get schoolwork done while watching your favorite TV   program or sifting through the latest Facebook posts. Turn off the TV, sign out of your social networks and get to work. You’ll find you get your class work done in half the time.

Shy students may feel more comfortable. Some students hate to participate in live class discussions. For many students, the online environment can be less intimidating.
